Fairly straight-forward question but what is the difference between R7282-105 plugs, R6385-105 and R6120-105 spark plugs? Are some of them det plugs or something?

Cheers, John

old = R6120-105 = R7282-105 = new => short insulator, thread dia 14 mm X 19 mm, spanner 16 mm,

e.g. Deto: R6120A-105 = R7282A-105 => thread dia 14 mm X 22 mm, spanner 16 mm, no gasket for deto counter

old = R6385-10 = R7376-10 = new => long insulator, thread dia 14 mm X 19 mm, spanner 20.8 mm

R7376B-10 => thread dia 14 mm X 22 mm, spanner 20.8 mm

Cheers

Breadline has quite a reasonable price for plugs. They are £36 each including the VAT I think. I know that the shops pay £31 each for the plugs, so £36 is a good price. Not sure how much the plug caps are.

Is it necessary to replace the caps very often or just once they become damaged or the resistance breaks down? Another thing that puzzles me is why people change the spark plug every 100 miles. I have a new plug which I use for checking jetting etc as it is easier to read but I use a slightly older one for racing at the moment. The gap is ok, there is no misfiring, the electrodes are not worn out, there is no detonation debris on it or lead deposits and it is not fouled up yet, so is there really any point in replacing it yet, despite it probably having a few hundred miles on it? Can't help but think that people are binning rather expensive plugs which are still perfectly good.
